Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) won an Exemplary Program Award from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) for its work on the Wisconsin Focus on Energy Industrial Program. This award is only given every five years and SAIC was also the recipient in 2008.
Since 2001, SAIC has provided comprehensive services to implement Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy business energy efficiency program. In the role of implementation contractor, SAIC engages Wisconsin commercial and industrial organizations like pulp and paper mills, food processors, metal casters, plastics manufacturers, printers, ethanol producers and wastewater facilities to provide engineering support and make them aware of the available incentives. Focus on Energy incentives pay a percentage of the cost of certain energy efficiency projects.
When customers access the program, SAIC guides them through the incentives available to them and how to take advantage of them. Over the past four years through the Focus on Energy program, SAIC has provided energy management support to deliver more than $70 million in energy efficiency and renewable energy incentives to more than 3,000 customers, yielding savings of about 700 million kWh, 50 million Therms, and more than $80 million savings for customers per year.
Portions of SAIC are to be renamed Leidos, following SAIC’s planned separation into two independent, publicly traded companies, subject to stockholder and board of directors approval, as announced Aug. 30, 2012.
