Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) Long Island and PSEG Foundation are supporting United Way of Long Island with a $25,000 grant to a newly formed fund addressing community needs caused by COVID-19.

With schools and businesses shutting down, low-wage employees are experiencing financial hardship. The UNITED TOGETHER: A Response Fund for COVID-19 aims to help alleviate disruptions to family life by providing eligible applicants with basic needs of food and household supplies.

The PSEG Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to build sustainable and thriving communities by fostering equity, safety and diversity and inclusion, as well as supporting the environment, education and workforce in their communities.

Daniel Eichhorn, president and COO of PSEG Long Island and vice chair of United Way’s Board of Directors executive committee, said, “During this difficult time, we are grateful that the PSEG Foundation is able to provide this grant to continue our support for United Way’s important efforts.”

“We are grateful to our generous supporters, like the PSEG Foundation, who make this fund possible. Providing families with gift cards so they can afford groceries and household essentials is one way we are offering relief to our community members,” United Way of Long Island President and CEO Theresa A. Regnante said. “When there is a lack of, or limited income, it can be very difficult to decide what you will have to give up.”
