AES Energy Storage, NEC Energy, RES Americas lead energy storage market

AES Energy Storage, NEC Energy Solutions and Renewable Energy Systems (RES) Americas lead the energy storage systems integrators market in terms of strategy and execution, according to a report from Navigant Research.

A new Leaderboard Report from Navigant Research examines the strategy and execution of 12 leading energy storage systems integrators, including vendor profiles, ratings, and rankings, with the goal of providing industry participants an objective assessment of these companies’ relative strengths and weaknesses in the market.

While energy storage systems integrators players were few and far between just a few years ago, today, a variety of new entrants are populating the market. Battery prices have responded to cost pressures, compelling energy storage systems integrators providers to deliver more consistent pricing, and the scaling of the industry overall is expected to rely on these vendors and their approach to the market.

“Key pieces of the value chain, such as inverters and installation, are bottlenecks that ESSI vendors must find creative solutions to in order to scale their business and continue to offer competitive rates,” says Anissa Dehamna, principal research analyst with Navigant Research. “Vendors that have strategies in place to address these solutions will be well-positioned to scale their businesses over the long term.”

Leading energy storage systems integrators vendors AES Energy Storage, NEC Energy Solutions and RES Americas have portfolios of successful projects, demonstrating disposition and their ability to adapt offers to the demand seen in the market, according to the report.

These characteristics, along with the pursuit of scalable business models, are particularly important in the ESSI space, as some firms have failed due to poor management or business strategy–even with a core technology that thoroughly demonstrated added value.
