Paris, April 26, 2012 – Alstom won a contract for the supply of the full electrical equipment and environmental unit of the new Beyhan-1 hydroelectric power plant in Turkey.
The customer Kalehan Enerji Ãretim ve Ticaret A.S. has entrusted a consortium with the processing of the entire project – the order value for Alstom is about $46.23 million and the contract was booked during fiscal year 2011-2012.
Beyhan-1 power plant, located near the eastern city of Elazig is the first of four hydro projects planned by Kalehand Enerji at the river Murat. With an installed capacity of around 600 MW, it is also one of the largest and the power plant will contribute to the future energy supply of Turkey. The start of operations is planned for mid 2015.
Under the terms of the contract, Alstom will provide the 32 MW environmental turbine-generator-unit, power transformers, 380 kV switchyard, medium and low voltage systems, electrical protection and a complete automation system.
Present in Turkey for over 60 years, Alstom has supplied key equipment for more than 50 percent of Turkey’s installed power generation capacity, including the AtatÃ¼rk dam, Turkey’s biggest hydro power plant.
