Apple proposes Nevada solar energy project to fuel data centers

Technology giant Apple Inc. is eyeing a partnership with NV Energy to build a solar power project to help fulfill the company’s pledge to power Apple data centers with renewable energy.

NV Energy, which in May 2013 reached an agreement to be bought by MidAmerican Energy Holdings, would build an 18 MW solar energy project in Northern Nevada, the output of which would be fed into Sierra Pacific Power Co’s electric grid.
