Chile AM Eolica Sarco to invest $25 million in transmission line

Chilean wind power developer AM Eolica Sarco plans to build a $25 million power transmission line in Atacama region to connect its planned 240 MW plant to the local network, the firm said in its environmental impact declaration for the line.

The 220 kV line will stretch 40.4 miles from the Sarco area to the Maitencillo substation, which is part of Chile’s central power grid SIC.

The design of the line does not exclude the incorporation of electricity from other future wind farms in the area, AM Eolica said. The firm is linked to Ireland-based Mainstream Renewable Power.
