Design firm plans 110 MW solar power project in Saudi Arabia

Ci design will design and planning of a new 110 MW photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing facility for the Al-Afandi Group, the first fully integrated PV panel manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia.

The renewable energy project will combine all stages of the PV solar panel manufacturing process within one facility, including wafer, cell and module manufacturing, to streamline production and to compete on cost in the growing solar energy marketplace.

Partnering with PV Tech Group (Winchester, Massachusetts), Avid Engineers (Boston) and DAR Engineers (Riyadh), ci design will oversee the full scope of the project, leading design efforts for the 24,800 square meter facility located in the Industrial Valley of the King Abdullah Economic City in Jeddah.

Design is set to begin in spring 2015.
