Duke Energy, ENN to build solar power projects

Charlotte, N.C., October 23, 2009 — Duke Energy agreed to develop commercial solar power projects in the U.S. with China-based ENN Group.

The companies will work with large, utility-scale solar farms and distributed generation solar projects.

Duke Energy Generation Services, Duke’s commercial business unit, will join with ENN to develop, own and operate the solar projects.

The joint development agreement expands DEGS’ existing investments in renewable energy — including wind and biopower — and commercial transmission.

DEGS owns and operates more than 630 MW of wind power projects in the U.S. and plans to add another 350 MW by the end of 2010.
