Enbridge and Suncor Energy to build wind power project

Pending regulatory approval, a partnership between Enbridge Inc. and Suncor Energy Inc., both of Calgary, Alberta, will generate the province’s first major supply of renewable energy through a wind power project to be built in southwest Saskatchewan. The project will increase Canada’s generation of power from wind by approximately 10 per cent and has the potential to expand further as additional market demand develops.

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 19, 2001 — Calpine Corporation announced today it will purchase 35 model 7FB and 11 model 7FA gas-fired turbines from GE Power Systems. With this announcement, Calpine has firm orders in place for the delivery of 203 turbines. When operated in a combined-cycle application, this represents 50,000 megawatts of baseload capacity.
