First Wind to develop solar power projects in Massachusetts

Boston-based First Wind struck a deal to acquire development rights to three solar energy projects in a trio of Massachusetts communities.

According to the Boston Business Journal, First Wind bought the rights to these projects earlier in 2013 from Victus Solar, a developer of distributed solar photovoltaic installations.

First Wind will install nearly 17 MW in Warren. 6 MW in Freetown and 4 MW in Millbury.

First Wind has developed and operates 980 MW of generating capacity at 16 wind energy projects in Maine, New York, Vermont, Utah, Washington and Hawaii.
