FirstEnergy sells 11 hydropower plants for $395 million

FirstEnergy Corp. sold 11 hydropower stations to Harbor Hydro Holdings LLC, a unit of LS Power Equity Partners II LP, for $395 million.

The power plants under the deal have a total generating capacity of 527 MW. They are:

The 451 MW Seneca Pumped Storage, the 6 MW Allegheny Lock & Dam 5, the 7 MW Allegheny Lock & Dam 6, the 52 MW Lake Lynn plants, all in Pennsylvania; the 3 MW Millville, 2 MW Dam 4 and the 1.2 MW Dam 5 in West Virginia; the 750 kW Warren, the 1.6 MW Luray, the 860 kW Shenandoah and 1.4 MW Newport, all in Virginia. FirstEnergy Generation LLC, Allegheny Energy Supply Co. LLC and Green Valley Hydro LLC all own the plants.

FirstEnergy still owns a 1,200 MW stake in the 3,000 MW Bath County Pumped-Storage Hydro plant in Virginia, and its unit Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), owns a 200 MW share of the 400 MW Yards Creek Pumped-Storage Hydro facility in New Jersey.
