Former President George W. Bush addresses Windpower 2010

Dallas, May 25, 2010 — Former President George W. Bush addressed wind energy industry leaders at the American Wind Energy Association’s Windpower 2010 Conference and Exhibition at the Dallas Convention Center.

Statement by Denise Bode, CEO, American Wind Energy Association:

“We were thrilled to hear former President George W. Bush envision a secure American energy future to end our addiction to oil, with wind energy on the leading edge, powering not only our homes and businesses but also our cars. President Bush shared Texas‘s recipe for wind energy success, including new transmission, a competitive electricity market, and reasonable taxes and permitting. He noted that when we diversify our energy supply, we create jobs. And finally, he noted that consumers often prefer to use wind power when they have the choice, confirming results from a recent AWEA poll which found that 89 percent of American voters believe America should develop more wind power.”
