GE wind turbines to power Comexhidro wind farm in Mexico

Mexico City, July 26, 2012 — GE will provide Comexhidro eight 2.75-MW wind turbines that will generate clean energy for public lighting in the municipality of Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leàƒ³n, Mexico.

The wind farm will help Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leàƒ³n, reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to the amount produced by 10,000 cars a year. Comexhidro, the Mexican hydroelectric company, is leading the project’s construction and operation and Conduit Capital Partners is investing in the project.

The Mexican Wind Energy Association estimates the country’s wind energy potential at more than 50,000 MW.

Comexhidro is a Mexican hydroelectric developer and works by developing and operating hydroelectric generation projects to increase the electricity capacity in the country, save nonrenewable resources and support municipal public lighting, through a self-supply scheme.
