Goole Fields 1 Wind Farm now generating power

RWE Innogy UK opened its $73 million Goole Fields 1 Wind Farm in East Riding of Yorkshire. The wind farm is made up of 16 wind turbines.

With a total installed generating capacity of 32.8 MW, the development has the potential to make an important contribution towards helping tackle climate change, and to securing the U.K.’s energy supply. Goole Fields Wind Farm could also meet the demands of the equivalent of up to 18,200 average U.K. households each year.

As part of the inauguration, guests were able to visit the site, and were given explanations on the workings of the wind farm, the development and construction phases and had a rare chance to take a look inside one of the turbines.

Community members were also given more information about the Goole Fields Wind Farm Community Fund, which is due to go live this autumn. The fund will invest in the region of $2.1 million over the operational lifetime of the wind farm.
