NV Energy, NIREC partner to boost Nevada renewable energy

Las Vegas, July 28, 2011 — With an emphasis on strengthening its Southern Nevada presence, the Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization announced the receipt of an NV Energy Foundation grant to support the nonprofit’s mission of accelerating innovations in clean energy technology and deployment.

This grant and NV Energy‘s participation in NIREC’s Innovation Partner Program will increase resources dedicated to growing the Las Vegas region’s clean energy industry.

Several clean energy innovations emerging from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas are already receiving expert guidance through NIREC’s OnTRAC Program — a commercialization assistance program of structured methodology, expert guidance and access to NIREC’s network. NIREC is also engaged with early stage technology companies, energy project developers, and a growing base of suppliers and service providers in the region.
