Pattern Energy, Samsung complete financing for Ontario wind energy project

Samsung Renewable Energy Inc. and Pattern Energy Group LP completed financing for the 150 MW Grand Renewable Wind project in Haldimand County, Ontario.

Using wind turbine blades and towers constructed in Ontario, the project will produce clean energy equal to the needs of about 50,000 Ontario homes each year. The 150 MW GRW project will be accompanied by Grand Renewable Solar, a 100 MW solar power project, with both projects providing a combined capacity of 250 MW of renewable energy.

The project will use 67 Siemens 2.3MW wind turbines, which will be made in Ontario. The blades will be manufactured at Siemens’ turbine blade facility in Tillsonburg.

The wind power generated by the wind farm will be sold to the Ontario Power Authority under a power purchase agreement.
