Project of the Year winners announced at DistribuTECH Brasil

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, October 10, 2012 — Two Project of the Year awards were presented during the closing awards luncheon September 27 at DistribuTECH Brasil 2012 in Rio de Janeiro to Light Serviàƒ§os de Eletricidade and Ampla Energia e Serviàƒ§os S.A.

Light Serviàƒ§os de Eletricidade won in the category of Large Smart Grid for Light Smart Grid Programme. This project began in 2010 and involves a three-year research and development program. It includes research, production design and release of new products to the market. As part of the program, Light has developed smart meters and innovative communication channels that connect the utility to customers in Rio de Janeiro.

Ampla Energia e Serviàƒ§os S.A. won in the category of Small Smart Grid for Bàƒºzios – SMART CITY. The project began in 2011 in the city of Bàƒºzios. It focuses on electronic metering, network automation, telecommunication systems, public lighting, electric vehicles, smart buildings, distributed generation and social programs.
