Sempra awards 250 MW solar energy project contract to AMEC

Sempra U.S. Gas & Power has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract to develop the Copper Mountain Solar 3 project in Nevada to AMEC, a U.K.-based engineering and project management company.

The 250 MW solar power project will be located on about 1,400 acres of land near Las Vegas. The project is the third phase of Sempra’s Copper Mountain Solar complex, which is one of the largest photovoltaic solar plants in the U.S.

Construction has already started on the project, which is expected to be complete in 2015, according to Power Engineering.
