Siemens gets ‘surgical’ with demand response

Siemens Smart Grid has introduced its latest demand response solution, Demand Response Management Software (DRMS) 2.5. The new software offers can create rule-based aggregations that can pinpoint localized grid stress within the utility’s territory while optimizing the dispatch of consumer loads.

Siemens said the product offers utilities more streamlined operations and reduced maintenance costs while promoting customer retention. The technology further expands upon DRMS 2.0’s ability to isolate and target demand reductions via substation, feeder, zip code or geographical location.

The “surgical” targeting within DRMS 2.5 lets utilities reduce power loads at critical sections in their distribution network. Unlike most other demand response solutions that exist in the marketplace today, DRMS 2.5 optimizes demand response program management by better understanding a utility’s specific dispatch request and develops a tailored recommendation of consumer loads and programs to precisely target next best actions.
