Siemens to build three photovoltaic plants in Central Italy

Erlangen, Germany, September 27, 2010 — Siemens Energy has received an order for the turnkey construction of three photovoltaic plants in Italy. The customer is Viridis Energia, a joint venture between Echidna S.p.A. and La.G.I. S.r.l.

With a combined rating of 3 MW peak, the three solar power plants will be erected in the Marche region, between the province of Macerata and Ancona between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains.

After their completion, scheduled for the end of 2010, the solar power plants will provide nearly 1,000 households in Italy with environmentally friendly power.

As the general contractor, Siemens is responsible for the turnkey construction, engineering and project management of the photovoltaic power plants.

The scope of supply includes the full range of Siemens components, such as inverters, medium-voltage equipment as well as monitoring system. Each plant will be equipped with 5,400 solar panels.
