Some federal agencies to us Constellation Energy for demand response

Baltimore, MD, Dec. 4, 2008 — Constellation Energy’s subsidiary, Constellation NewEnergy, was selected by the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC) to provide demand response services to both defense and civilian federal government agencies it serves domestically. DESC provides the Department of Defense and other government agencies with energy solutions.

Constellation NewEnergy’s federal customers, who commit to curtail energy use by shedding load or turning to on-site generation for a specific period of time when called upon, will earn a credit for committing to the program. Once enrolled, participants may earn ongoing credits for making such a commitment, as well as energy utilization credits for actually reducing load upon request.

As an authorized demand response vendor for the Department of Defense and other civilian agencies served by DESC, Constellation NewEnergy will now add demand response programs to the suite of solutions that it currently offers to the federal government. Other offerings include electricity and gas products, renewable energy resources, and “carbon footprinting” services.
