U.K. grants approval for 504 MW offshore wind farm

Galloper Wind Farm won permission from the U.K. government to build a 504 MW wind farm off the coast of Suffolk and related infrastructure at Sizewell that will connect the wind farm to the electric grid system.

The developer estimates that the 140 wind turbine project will provide enough electricity to power the equivalent of as many as 500,000 homes a year when completed in 2017.

The project could generate up to $27 million of investment in Suffolk and create around 600 jobs across the country.
