EDP Energias do Brasil launches smart grid project

EDP Energias do Brasil SA launched on Friday a $2.2 million smart grid project in the Domingos Martins and Marechal Floriano municipalities in the southeastern state of Espirito Santo.

The InovCity project is part of the global strategy of EDP Energias do Brasil’s parent company, Portuguese power utility EDP, to develop key smart grid networks. The project foresees a series of technological innovations aimed at larger energy efficiency thanks to smart measuring, efficient public lighting systems, renewable micro-generation and electric mobility.

The initiative is carried out under a partnership with Espirito Santos’s government and local authorities.

EDP Energias do Brasil has already put on stream a similar project in the Aparecida municipality in the southeastern Sao Paulo state.
