EnerNOC, Electricity North West sign demand response agreement

London, May 18, 2011 — EnerNOC, Inc., a provider of demand response applications and services, will provide demand response capacity to Electricity North West Limited, a major distribution network operator that delivers power to 2.4 million domestic and industrial customers in the North West of England, including Greater Manchester and Cumbria.

This five-year agreement will promote efficient electricity use within Electricity North West’s service territory and enable regional businesses and organizations to be paid to reduce their energy usage when capacity is needed to support the grid.

EnerNOC works with every facility in its DemandSMART network to develop an energy curtailment plan that is customized to site-specific energy usage. When dispatched by a distribution network operator, like Electricity North West, EnerNOC manages its portfolio of participating sites in real-time to ensure curtailment plans are met.

Demand response creates payments for program participants while helping to relieve system constraints, lower the cost of energy for all ratepayers, and encourage more efficient energy usage across the grid.

EnerNOC provides energy management applications and services throughout the U.K., the U.S. and Canada. In the U.K., EnerNOC also provides demand response capacity to National Grid and UK Power Networks.
