Peterborough Utilities picks Elster-enabled in-home displays for deployment

Raleigh, N.C., August 13, 2012 — Peterborough Utilities, a water and electricity utility for the city of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, selected Elster to supply Aztech in-home displays, enabled by Elster’s EnergyAxis system, to provide their customers with real-time information on their energy consumption.

The Aztech IHD communicates directly with Elster’s EnergyAxis smart meter network, providing homeowners with real time energy usage data. The Peterborough Utilities deployment of in-home displays is part of the Ontario peaksaver PLUS initiative and is a benchmark event in providing high volumes of AMI network connected real-time usage information to customers.

Peterborough Utilities is a multi-utility that has deployed residential and commercial water and electricity meters. By using the Aztech IHD enabled by Elster, Peterborough Utilities will provide customers with information on their electricity usage and notifications with time-of-use periods as well as easy-to-read screen displays.
