AEP promotes Wade Smith to head up transmission grid development

American Electric Power has named A. Wade Smith as senior vice president-transmission grid development effective Aug. 3. He will oversee transmission planning, engineering, project services and reliability compliance for that AEP sector.

He previously worked as president and chief operating officer of AEP Texas. Bruce Evans will succeed Smith in that role, which oversees responsibility for nearly 1 million customers in south and west Texas.

Evans was vice president of distribution operations for AEP Texas.
