Apple hires former EPA head Lisa Jackson

Apple, Inc. hired former Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson to be vice president for environmental initiatives, according to reports.

Jackson stepped down as EPA administrator in February 2013 after serving four years during President Barack Obama’s first term.

Jackson told media outlets she would assist the technology company in removing toxic materials from its products and manufacturing, improving its energy efficiency and integrating renewable energy supply into its operations.

According to Apple, the company derives 75 percent of its electricity from renewable power.
