Areva nuclear reactor design advances in U.S.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) confirmed that Areva‘s Aircraft Impact Assessment (AIA) of the U.S. EPR reactor design has completed the agency’s inspection, resulting in no violations.

This is the first time an AIA has been in full compliance of federal regulatory requirements and does not necessitate any further examination or modification.

In addition to the certification underway in the U.S., the EPR reactor has been approved by authorities in Finland, France, China and the U.K.
