As of May 29, the U.S. energy industry had raised $45.51 billion of senior debt, $12.37 billion of common equity and $2.22 billion of preferred equity in 2015.
The midstream sector had raised $34.98 billion, the power sector had raised $20.47 billion, the gas sector had raised $2.94 billion and the coal sector had raised $1.71 billion.
Xcel Energy Inc. on May 27 completed an offering of $500 million of senior unsecured notes, comprising $250 million of 1.200 percent notes due June 1, 2017, and $250 million of 3.300 percent notes due June 1, 2025. The 2017 notes have a spread to benchmark Treasury of 58 basis points, and the 2025 notes have a spread to benchmark Treasury of 120 basis points. The issue was rated A3 by Moody’s and BBB+ by both S&P and Fitch.
