Energy veteran Ronald Bertasi joins Enovation Partners

Ronald Bertasi, former Southern Co. and private equity executive, has joined Enovation Partners LLC as an affiliate director. In this role, Bertasi will work part time with the firm’s partners and clients.

“Ron has been an innovator on the executive level across the energy spectrum, from electric and gas utilities to renewable development to energy services to small-scale LNG,” said Robert Zabors, CEO of Enovation Partners. “His combination of financial, strategic and operational experience is exceptional.”

In his most recent private equity role, Bertasi was CEO and a board member of Sparus Holdings and an operating partner at Source Capital, the private equity owner of Sparus. Prior to that, Bertasi was CEO and a board member of Prometheus Energy Group, a pioneering, private equity-owned small-scale LNG company. In both roles, he focused on boosting market performance for advanced-technology energy companies. Before Prometheus, Bertasi was the founder and CEO of Mack Creek Energy Group, a renewable energy development firm that co-developed the largest solar photovoltaic project in Georgia. He simultaneously served as an operating partner with Element Partners, a cleantech private equity firm. In addition to board seats in his CEO positions, Bertasi also has served as an independent board director twice.

Bertasi spent seven years at Southern Co., where he was CEO of subsidiary Southern Co. Energy Solutions before moving on to become chief executive of Southern Co. Gas. Before that, he led strategy development and M&A activity for deregulated retail energy business at Enron Energy Services.

Prior to his executive career, Bertasi was a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton’s energy group, where he served energy companies on issues of strategy and operations, including major restructurings.

“Ron comes to us at a time when the industry is looking for innovative solutions and new directions,” Zabors said. “His experience fits the bill for the industry of the future.”
