Obama to nominate Sally Jewell to lead Department of Interior

President Barack Obama plans to nominate Sally Jewell to replace Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, who plans to retire in March.

Jewell is president and CEO of Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), a maker of outdoor clothing and footwear. Jewell took over the company in 2005 after joining it in 1996.

She also worked as an engineer for Mobil Oil Corp. in Oklahoma and Colorado, and also as a commercial banker.

Jewell is a resident of the Seattle area and is reportedly an avid camper and hiker.
