Smart grid expert David Healey joins Analysys Mason to lead smart energy practice

Smart grid expert and sustainable energy adviser to the UN David Healey has joined Analysys Mason as a partner to lead and develop the firm’s smart energy practice, the company announced.

Healey will focus on establishing Analysys Mason’s global footprint in the energy sector. Smart grid and smart energy objectives have a fundamental need for economic and effective communications, and this is where Analysys Mason’s experience and knowledge will be valuable.

“The global energy sector is taking its first steps in the journey towards a low-carbon energy supply chain,” Healey said. “Analysys Mason is committed to bringing its wealth of telecoms knowledge and experience to support the realization of our smart energy future.”

Healey has worked in the energy and utility industry more than 25 years in various roles, and his expertise is recognized worldwide. Before joining Analysys Mason, Healey was smart grid practice lead at global information technology consulting firm Wipro Technologies.

Among his other credentials, Healey founded and launched Smart Grid Solutions in 2007, which was one of the first advisory consultancy companies in Europe to be dedicated to the smart energy sector that was emerging at the time.

Healey has worked across the full breadth of the energy utility value chain, from software and silicon design and hardware product development to utility network operations. He also has led major smart energy implementation projects, including a consortium proposal to the U.K. government’s smart metering procurement process and an ICT refresh program for a power distribution company in Ghana.

In 2014, Healey was invited to take an ongoing advisory role on the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Sustainable Energy and Energy Efficiency committees, tasked with developing strategy to support the UN’s 10-year Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative.

Analysys Mason celebrates 30 years as global specialist advisers in telecoms, media and technology, helping clients through major shifts in the market and developments in the digital economy.
