Smart grid software developer Bit Stew hires Allman as president, COO

Smart grid software developer Bit Stew Systems recently selected Michael Allman as president and CEO, the company announced.

Allman is an accomplished CEO and chairman with extensive experience in growing, restructuring and optimizing business strategies and operations for Fortune 300 corporations and top-tier consulting firms around the world.

Most recently, Allman has had top executive positions with Sempra Energy, an $11 billion, energy services company. His most recent position was chairman, president and CEO of Southern California Gas Co., the $4 billion largest natural gas distribution company in the U.S. He led his team in achieving record profits and a No. 1 ranking in customer service among large natural gas distribution companies. Prior to this role, Allman was president and CEO of Sempra Generation, a $2 billion electric generation enterprise. He has some 15 years of management experience in the electric generation and energy industries through executive roles at Sempra.

Earlier in his career, Allman spent more than a decade at The LEK/Alcar Consulting Group and has had other business development and consulting roles in the U.S., Europe and South Africa. A key influencer in the business community, Allman also serves on the board of directors of several companies in the high technology and oil and gas sectors.

Allman will be based in southern California, where Bit Stew serves major utility customers.
