Tesla Motors snags Apple Inc. talent

Electric vehicle maker Tesla Motors hired Doug Field, Apple Inc.’s vice president of Mac hardware engineering. According to Tesla, Field will help bring some electronics expertise to its electric cars.

Field, who worked for Apple for half a decade and also worked for Segway, will be Tesla’s new vice president of vehicle programs, which is in charge of designing new vehicles.

Field reportedly worked on Apple consumer electronics, including the MacBook Air, the iMac and the MacBook Pro.
