AGL Resources names Doug Schantz president of Sequent Energy Management

ATLANTA, May 16, 2003 — AGL Resources Inc. has announced Douglas N. Schantz has been named president of the company’s Houston-based Sequent Energy Management subsidiary.

He will report to Richard T. O’Brien, executive vice president and chief financial officer of AGL Resources and chief executive officer of Sequent.

Schantz will be responsible for leading all aspects of Sequent’s operations, including natural gas asset management, supply and distribution, and producer services. He also will play a key role in developing and implementing long-term growth and business expansion plans for Sequent.

“Doug is a proven leader who brings to AGL Resources a combination of solid energy industry experience, outstanding business development skills, and tremendous integrity,” said O’Brien. “We will rely heavily on his expertise in leading our business expansion efforts at Sequent as well as helping us implement our growth strategy for AGL Resources.”

Schantz comes to AGL Resources with 20 years of experience in the energy industry and natural gas markets, most recently with Houston-based Cinergy Marketing & Trading, a subsidiary of Cinergy Corp., where he served as vice president-marketing and business development.

In that role, he was responsible for developing and implementing market strategies and completing business development transactions that enabled Cinergy to expand its role in the natural gas industry and substantially increase its geographic scope and market share. Prior to joining Cinergy, he was executive vice president and general manager for KN Marketing, L.P., a subsidiary of Kinder-Morgan, Inc., where he was instrumental in expanding KN Marketing into a top-10 North American natural gas marketing and trading company. His experience also includes senior management positions with Tenneco Energy Company and Transco Energy Company.

Schantz is a graduate of the University of Virginia, and holds an MBA (with a concentration in finance) from The University of Chicago.
