Argentina‘s Atucha II nuclear plant reached 90 percent operating capacity, a government release said.
The country’s nuclear power authority gave permission for the 745 MW facility, which launched operations in June, to reach full capacity next month.
Since the plant’s startup, Atucha II has incrementally increased output while undergoing tests to verify the proper functioning of its systems.
Argentina’s net nuclear output increased 35 percent year-on-year in December to 567 GWh, according to data from wholesale power market regulator Cammesa. Nuclear accounted for 4.9 percent of the total net generation during the period.
Atucha II was developed by state-run nuclear firm Nucleoelàƒ©ctrica Argentina.
