ENMAX board appoints Thompson MacDonald new board chairman

CALGARY, Oct. 13, 2003 — ENMAX Corp. announced its board of directors has approved a resolution appointing Thompson MacDonald as the new chairman effective October 15, 2003.

MacDonald has been a member of the ENMAX board of directors since January 2002. In addition to his role as chairman, he will continue to participate on the Audit and Finance, Corporate Governance and Human Resources committees.

The appointment of MacDonald follows the resignation of George Cornish as chairman to pursue retirement plans. Cornish will act as chairman emeritus, supporting MacDonald in the transition until the annual shareholder meeting in mid 2004.

Cliff Fryers, chairman of ENMAX’s Corporate Governance Committee, said, “The board strongly endorsed MacDonald’s appointment. We are confident his experience with boards and in the business community will serve ENMAX and its owner well.”

MacDonald’s experience includes the appointment by the Prime Minister of Canada to serve on the board of directors of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation from 1993 to 1999. He also chaired the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Pension Board of Trustees from 1997 to 1999.

MacDonald owns and operates a communications consulting firm. Prior, he was Vice-President, News and Public Affairs at CFCN Television. His distinguished record in the community includes service as founding director of Calgary’s Ronald McDonald House, a member of the senate of the University of Calgary, an executive of the United Way and vice-chairman of William Roper Hull Child and Family Services. In 1992, MacDonald was awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada “in recognition of significant contribution to compatriots, community and to Canada.”

ENMAX Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The City of Calgary, provides electricity, natural gas and value-added services to more than 400,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Alberta through its subsidiary companies.
