NorthWestern announces resignation of John van Roden

SIOUX FALLS, S.D., March 11, 2003 — NorthWestern Corp. has announced that due to unforeseen family health issues, John van Roden has resigned from his role as Senior Vice President.

Van Roden indicated that in light of these unexpected circumstances, he will be unable to devote the time that would be necessary to carry out his assignment.

Van Roden joined NorthWestern on Feb. 17, 2003, and provided the Company with his verbal resignation on Feb. 20, following an unexpected development in a family health matter. His formal resignation was received and accepted on March 6, 2003.

“Although we regret that John will be unable to be a part of our management team, we recognize the difficulty of his situation and extend our best wishes to him and his family,” said Gary G. Drook, Chief Executive Officer of NorthWestern.
