PGE announces new chief financial officer

Portland General Electric (PGE) announced that Maria M. Pope will become the company’s senior vice president of finance, chief financial officer and treasurer. Pope has served as a member of PGE’s board of directors since January 2006. She will fill the position left by Jim Piro as he becomes CEO and president on Jan. 1, 2009.

Previously, Pope served as vice president, chief financial officer at Mentor Graphics Corp., the Oregon-based software company. Before joining Mentor Graphics in 2007, Pope was with Pope & Talbot Inc., in a variety of positions.

“While serving as a director on the PGE Board, I became very interested in the utility sector. I’m excited to now be a full-time member of the PGE team,” Pope said.

Pope received her MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. She officially resigned from the PGE Board of Directors as of Dec. 31, 2008.
