Houston, September 2, 2010 – The Houston Rockets and Reliant Energy announced today that they have signed an agreement making Reliant Energy the official electricity supplier to the team and Toyota Center.
“We are thrilled to have been chosen by the Rockets to light up Toyota Center,” said Tom Gros, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Reliant Energy. “Houston is our hometown and we are gratified to be providing electric service to some of the city’s most important institutions including our sports teams. We are equally excited about the opportunity this agreement provides to join forces with the Rockets in our community.”
“Reliant Energy provides the right combination of innovative energy solutions and the opportunity to work with a respected community partner,” said Tad Brown, CEO of the Houston Rockets. “We are looking forward to our relationship with Reliant both on and off the court.”
Reliant Energy provides electricity and energy services to about 1.6 million retail customers – including homes, small and large businesses, manufacturing facilities, government entities and institutions across Texas.
As part of NRG Energy, Reliant Energy is backed by one of the nation’s largest power producers. NRG owns and operates more than 24,000 MW of generation capacity, including more than 11,000 MW of capacity in Texas.
