Shaw to erect five HRSG boilers for combined cycle power plant project

Baton Rouge, La., September 1, 2010 — The Shaw Group won a contract to erect five heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) boilers for Alstom Power, the main engineering, procurement and construction contractor to RWE npower for the 2,160-MW Pembroke power plant, a combined-cycle gas-fired power station in the U.K.

Shaw will erect and install the boilers at the Pembroke power plant located in South West Wales. Shaw’s team is one of the most experienced constructors of large-scale boilers in the U.K. and has installed gas-turbine equipment totaling 9,000 MW in the last 15 years.

During that same time period, Shaw has worked with Alstom on more than 40 projects in the U.K. ranging in size and value.

“With more than 100 years of experience in the U.K. through our legacy companies, Shaw continues to provide our clients with quality equipment as they move forward with new combined-cycle projects,” said J.M. Bernhard Jr., Shaw’s chairman, president and chief executive officer.

About $50 million was included in Shaw’s Fossil, Renewables and Nuclear segment’s backlog of unfilled orders in the third quarter of fiscal year 2010.

The Shaw Group is a global provider of engineering, construction, technology, fabrication, remediation and support services for clients in the energy, chemicals, environmental, infrastructure and emergency response industries.
