Shaw wins multiple year nuclear maintenance contract with APS

Baton Rouge, La., December 1, 2011 — The Shaw Group signed a contract with Arizona Public Service, Co. to provide maintenance, modifications, construction and radiological protection services to its Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Arizona.

Palo Verde is located 55 miles west of Phoenix and is the largest nuclear power plant in the U.S. with three reactors capable of producing more than 4,000 MW of electricity.

The undisclosed value of the three-year contract will be included in Shaw‘s Plant Services segment’s backlog of unfilled orders in the first quarter of fiscal year 2012.

Shaw is one of the largest maintenance providers to the power and process industries in the U.S., offering full-service plant engineering, reliability, turnaround and outage services with capital construction management and modification support.

Shaw is the leading provider of nuclear maintenance, providing systemwide maintenance and modification services to 44 of the 104 of operating nuclear power reactors, including the country’s two largest nuclear fleets.

APS is Arizona’s largest and oldest service electric utility and serves more than 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state’s 15 counties. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp. APS co-owns Palo Verde and operates it on behalf of six other co-owners: El Paso Electric Co., Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Public Service Co. of New Mexico, Salt River Project, Southern California Edison and Southern California Public Power Authority.
