Thomas R. Black to become president of BluePoint Energy Development

GRANITE BAY, Calif., Oct. 23, 2003 — Chapeau Inc. (dba Blue Point Technology) announced the hiring of Thomas R. Black as president of BluePoint Energy Development, the company’s new own-and-operate separate business unit formed as a consequence of the recently announced $35 Million Calim-BPEP I Partnership.

Black joins BluePoint from DTE Energy Technologies, a provider of distributed generation solutions, products and services. DTE Energy Technologies is an operating unit of DTE Energy Distribution, one of three major business units of DTE Energy, a diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide.

Black has served as Vice President, North America Sales since joining DTE Energy Technologies in 2001 and is currently responsible for leading its 45-person direct sales force. Black joined DTE Energy Technologies in that company’s acquisition of Alliance Energy Companies Ltd., a distributor of standby and distributed power generation products and services that Black co-founded and served as President and Chief Executive Officer. Black will officially join BluePoint prior to the end of October 2003.

Guy A. Archbold, BluePoint Chief Executive Offiicer commented, “We are very excited and highly enthusiastic that Tom has agreed to become part of the BluePoint Energy Senior Management staff. Tom’s vast experience in the DG industry as both the CEO of his own very successful company as well as his subsequent senior management experience at one of the leading DG businesses in the United States, DTE Energy Technologies, will greatly add to BluePoint’s growth in the DG industry. As a consequence of our recent announcement of the $35 million partnership with Calim-BPEP I, we could not ask for a more experienced industry executive guiding that opportunity.”

Black commented, “I am anxious to work with the dedicated team at BluePoint, fully cognizant of their tremendous DG product array as well as their turn-key approach to the DG industry encompassing superior product; engineering, permitting, and construction; as well as their newly formed partnership with Calim Private Equity designed to facilitate the end-user’s ability to derive the many benefits of on-site distributed generation with no capital investment on their part. BluePoint is the only company of which I am aware that can provide such complete solutions to the emerging energy difficulties facing the commercial markets as witnessed during our recent blackouts.”
