Avista Corp. won the web site category at the Utility Communicators International, 1999 Better Communications Competition. Some of the fastest growing parts of the utility`s business involve technology-tele- communications, Internet services, fiber optic networks and distributed generation.

The Spokane-based utility`s web strategy evolved when all of the company`s activities and subsidiaries was placed under one brand, the Avista name. At that point, it decided to create a user-friendly structure flexible enough to carry the corporate brand message and the specific content each of its subsidiaries require, which resulted in a set of 10 inter-linked web sites all grouped under the Avista brand.
