Tuscarora Gas Transmission Co. finishes 2002 expansion in compliance with environmental regulations

HALF MOON BAY, Calif., Jan. 27, 2003 — Essex Environmental has completed work on Tuscarora Gas Transmission Company’s 2002 Expansion Project.

Tuscarora contracted Essex to manage permitting and planning for the project, develop and deliver the training program, perform preconstruction biological surveys, provide environmental inspection services during construction, and assist with post-construction environmental reporting.

Built to meet the growing needs of customers in northern Nevada, the expansion will provide natural gas for electric generation in the Reno area and greater flexibility to the regional infrastructure.

The expansion involves construction of approximately 10 miles of 20-inch-diameter natural gas pipeline in Washoe and Storey Counties, Nevada and installation of two compressor stations in Modoc and Lassen Counties, California. The work falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and other state and local regulatory entities.

“We chose Essex for this project because of their impressive track record both within the industry and here at Tuscarora in conducting planning, training, and compliance management services,” said Terry Wolverton, manager of right-of-way and environment at Tuscarora Gas Transmission Company. “Essex was a valuable part of our team. We are pleased with the way they performed on this project and with their dedication to ensuring that we met our environmental commitments.”

“Tuscarora is a company very in tune with the balance required to build projects in today’s regulatory climate,” said Jayne Battey, president of Essex Environmental. “We really appreciate the working relationship we have with the Tuscarora staff.”
