As of July 29, the energy industry had raised $43.97 billion of senior debt, $12.43 billion of common equity, about $980 million of subordinated debt and $130 million of preferred equity in 2011.
The power sector had raised $27.18 billion of capital, the midstream sector had raised $19.75 billion, the coal sector had raised $5.94 billion, and the gas utility sector had raised $4.64 billion.
Dominion Resources Inc. on July 29 completed a $75 million remarket of its solid waste disposal revenue bonds series 2010 B, due 2041, to a third party. According to a recent Form 10-Q, the proceeds are being used to finance certain qualifying facilities at the Brayton Point power plant in Massachusetts. The bonds bear interest at a variable rate for the first five years, after which they will bear interest at a market rate to be determined at that time.
