Ambient Corp., a provider of flexible and scalable smart grid communications platforms and technologies, has named Jim Fisher vice president of business development, The Americas.
 
“Jim brings extensive industry knowledge and business development expertise,” said John J. Joyce, Ambient president and CEO. “As we look to expand our customer base and product offerings in 2012, I am confident that with the addition of Jim’s experience to our management team we are better positioned to grow our brand awareness throughout the industry. We are excited to have him join at this critical juncture.”
 
Prior to joining the company, Fisher spent the past seven years with Itron Inc. in positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as global senior director of sales and business development. He has worked in the energy industry more than 20 years in management, sales and marketing roles with Schlumberger and Itron. Fisher has a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from West Virginia University.

“It is a very exciting time in the energy industry as utilities are evaluating their traditional vertical networks and looking towards integrated and unified smart grid applications,” Fisher said. “Ambient Corp. is well-positioned with their communications platform for promoting a smarter grid. I am looking forward to contributing to one of the primary goals for 2012: expansion of the company’s customer base.”
