ABB Provides OASIS Gateway to Cinergy

ABB Systems Control, a unit of ABB Power T&D Company Inc., delivered an Open Access Same-time Information System (OASIS) Gateway to Cinergy Corp. just three months after the order was placed. The OASIS Gateway, ordered in October 1996, was on line and performing a majority of transmission provider OASIS functions beginning Jan. 3, 1997. ABB also provided Cinergy with an enhanced interchange scheduling system–the ISplus–which was installed and running three months after it was ordered.

The ABB OASIS Gateway is a workstation interface tied to a remote OASIS Internet web server that allows Cinergy personnel to easily maintain all of the OASIS data affecting the company directly from their central location in Cincinnati, Ohio. Configured to communicate with the East Central Area Reliability Coordination Agreement OASIS node, the new interface enables operators to process a large volume of total transmission capacity/available transmission capacity calculations, transmission service requests and other required transmission path information.

The ISplus is an enhanced interchange transaction scheduling and contract management system that functions with Cinergy`s OASIS Gateway to support the increasing volume of interchange schedules required by the open access market. The system uses commercially available relational database and tools, which enabled Cinergy staff to quickly integrate the system with the EMS and corporate billing and invoicing systems.
