Aes Ekibastuz reaches power sales agreement with RAO UES of Russia

This agreement marks the first time power will be exported from the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation. The supply of power for RAO UES is due to start on December 30, 2000 and the contract term is one year.

Dec. 27, 2000–Up to a foot of snow and two inches of ice from a Christmas winter storm have paralyzed the U.S. heartland, leaving hundreds of thousands without power.
