AES NewEnergy selects RETX LMD service to use in the ISO-NE load response program

ATLANTA, Ga., Aug. 1, 2002 — RETX has been contracted by AES NewEnergy to provide its load response management system for the New England area, announced RETX CEO and President, Ross D. Malme.

The RETX Load Management Dispatcherâ„- (LMD) service will be used by AES NewEnergy to participate in ISO New England’s award-winning Load Response Program.

The RETX LMDâ„- allows energy consumers who can reduce their usage or who have on-site generation capability to participate in the wholesale energy market. The RETX LMDâ„- is a decision support tool that tracks energy market prices and customer usage data, notifies energy customers when demand response opportunities arise and provides daily settlement estimates.

Said Malme, “AES NewEnergy is leading the way in helping to improve the reliability of New England’s energy supplies. RETX is very pleased to be a part of this critical energy industry transformation. We know from experience that Demand Response Resources (DRR) can work to improve a region’s power reliability, and we estimate DRR is less expensive by an order of magnitude than the traditional solutions of new generation and transmission.”

“AES NewEnergy, in conjunction with ISO New England and NEPOOL, now offers two programs with incentives for commercial and industrial users to conserve electricity during peak demand periods,” said Bob Kinscherf, Senior Business Development Manager for AES NewEnergy in New England.

“We offer these programs to promote energy conservation, not only in support of meeting this summer’s expected demand challenges, but also in support of the overall long term environmental benefits,” continued Kinscherf.
